2013 Stumpjumper Expert Carbon EVO R 29 is A Slick, Speedy Racing Mountain Bike from Specialized

The first thing that stands out about the 2013 Stumpjumper Expert Carbon Evo R 29er is the low weight. It's below 20lbs (less pedals) offer a stark contrast to most 29ers.

BikeRadar says: "Ride & handling: Awesome descender and pretty good to pedal too"

The bike's design has a wide range of use — everything from trail riding to all out racing. There are 8 models of completes with an additional two frame set choices. The EVO R falls into the racing category.

The Stumpjumper EVO geometry has shorter chain stay length, achieved by using a slight forward bend in the seat tube.

The other important factor is the all new, tapered carbon steer tubed Chisel fork. Using this fork, Specialized drops some weight over a suspended model, but they also achieve a constant head angle of 71.5. Specialized continues to use their FSR four-bar rear end, bumping up the 135mm travel to RockShox 140mm-travel Revelation RL 29er fork. Impeccably tuned, this fork squashes small bumps, handles bigger drops better, has an appropriately firm bottom-out, and the midstroke is a lively zone of activity that never feels too bogged down or artificially firm. (paraphrased from BikeRadar)

The massive top tube, down tube, and bottom bracket area are in stark contrast to the thin seat stays and modest sized chain stays.

As far as components, the Evo has a very racer specific setup. It's got X-9 ten speed rear shiftsrs with Magura MT6 levers (carbon fiber master cylinders and alloy blades). The handlebars are from S-Works and are carbon fiber, and the stem is a Specialized XC.

Drivetrain is 1x10 and features a SRAM S-2200 crank set with 175mm long arms. They also have a PF-30 spindle and a removable spider mounted with a 34T ring. Rear derailleur is a mid-cage SRAM X-0 Type 2 model. All that drives through a Roval Control wheel with a DT Swiss cassette body affixed to a hub with 32 DT Swiss Super Comp spokes. The wheel attaches via the standard 9mm quick release.
